alli Diet Pills
alli is a fat binder that contains the anti-obesity drug Orlistat. It is an over the counter version of Xenical but contains half the amount of Orlistat (alli contains 60mg whereas Xenical contains 120mg). alli has recently passed licensing rules in Europe and is now available to buy in the UK, without prescription, in chemists such as Boots.
alli is NOT a new diet pill as it has been available over the counter in the US since July 2007. Although alli is a popular diet pill in the States, users have complained of some quite unpleasant and embarrassing side effects including frequent runny orange stools.
However, if you are not put off by alli’s side-effects and you still want to try it, you can buy if from Boots the Chemist. A two week supply will set you back £32.95 and a one month supply costs £49.95.

How alli Works
alli works in your digestive system by blocking up to 25% of your fat intake from being digested. In your digestive system you have enzymes called lipases which help to break down fat. When taken with meals, alli attaches to the lipases and stops them from breaking down some of the fat you have eaten. The undigested fats pass through your system naturally, and are eliminated in your bowel movements.
alli versus Proactol
Both alli and Proactol are clinically proven, non-prescription diet pills that are licensed throughout Europe and the US. alli and Proactol are very similar in the way that that help you to lose weight. They both work in the digestive system by binding with dietary fats which stops the fats from being absorbed. This reduces your calorie intake as fewer calories from the fats that you eat are being digested.
However, there are some key differences between alli and Proactol and when you take a closer look, Proactol has more advantages over alli.

Side Effects
The most reported side-effect from users in the US is that an orange liquid is frequently dispelled, quite often without warning. This liquid is the undigested fats passing out of the body. Unlike Proactol, alli is a strong chemical drug and when it binds with the fats it creates this orange liquid. When Proactol binds with fats it does not create this orange liquid because it contains 100% natural and organic dried cactus. Naturally, Proactol makes you go to the toilet more frequently as your body has to get rid of more waste because of the undigested fats. However, you will not experience unexpected bowel movements like you do with alli.
Other side-effects linked to alli are fecal incontinence, frequent or urgent bowel movements and flatulence.
My Opinion
Unfortunately, alli’s embarrassing side-effects really let it down - if the consequences of taking alli were not so unpleasant then I would highly recommend it. However, from personal experience, I would recommend Proactol over alli as it is a great natural alternative which does not have any embarrassing side-effects.
Proactol also has some added benefits over alli:
- Blocks more fat from being absorbed than alli
- It acts as an appetite suppressant by swelling up the food that you have eaten so that you feel fuller for longer - alli DOES NOT do this
- Its lowers blood cholesterol - alli DOES NOT do this
- It is cheaper than alli and comes with more offers such as weight loss e-books, low fat recipes and online aerobic videos to help support your weight loss
Where to Buy alli
However, with all the hype surrounding alli, I know that many people still want to give it a go. Boots the Chemist sell a two week supply of alli for £32.95 and a one month’s supply for £49.95.Â
